My favorite picture of Theave's Castle with the reflection on the water and the flowers in the foreground. What a gentleman who was working that day told us the big hole at the second floor is from Mons Meg, where the repair has fallen away when window bars were pull out. Reading about the history of Theave's in 1174 the island was the home of Uchtred de Galloway macFergus Lord Galloway and sometime in the late 1280's it was home to Dovenald mac Cane mac Gillolane whose island was burnt and Dovenald was killed my Edward Bruce brother of Robert Bruce.
